Motorsport is a subject close to the heart of Backwell Motors.

Proprietor Charles Atherton has many years experience in motor racing which has been crowned in recent years by dominating a very popular saloon car championship - outright champion in 2000 and 2001 - in a car built at Backwell Motors. (Since 2001 Charlie has raced in a different series.)

• The car was built from a scrap shell
• Shell cleaned and excess material removed
• Shell seam welded
• Roll cage welded in
• Structural components added
• Various panels and covers fabricated
• Modifications to wheel arch areas
• Material removed from panels to championship regulations
• Filed and rubbed down as necessary
• Primed and painted
• Door, bumpers, lights and glass fitted

After this the vehicle had its mechanical fit.
